Animal Control

Responsibilities & Services

The Gulf Shores Police Department has an assigned Animal Control Officer who is responsible in attempting to rid the city of stray, homeless, unclaimed or diseased animals; to coordinate the functions of the humane officer with the work of the county rabies inspector and the county health department; and to perform such other duties as may be prescribed by City of Gulf Shores.

If you would like to report animal control concerns, contact the Gulf Shores Police Department at 251-968-2431.

Baldwin County Humane Society

The Baldwin County Humane Society (BARC!) is a no-kill adoption agency (rather than a shelter). We are a 501(c)3 not-for-profit established in 1979; we were the first and remain the only county-wide animal welfare agency. Our goal is to eliminate the number of abused and abandoned pets through spay / neuter, education, rescue, and adoption.

For more information about adoption, local animal shelters or lost and found animals, contact the Baldwin County Humane society at 251-928-4585 or visit their website.
