Patrol Division

The Patrol Division is the largest division of the Police Department and the home to uniformed services. Patrol officers respond to all calls for service from the community. Some of the situations handled daily by patrol officers are traffic collisions, disturbances, domestic violence incidents, and filing crime reports.

Between calls for service, patrol officers spend their time maintaining high visibility in the streets and enforcing traffic laws. Citing traffic violators reduces the chances of traffic collisions. Maintaining high visibility in the community scares away criminals who may wish to commit crimes in the city.

The overarching goals of the Patrol Division are to:

  • Provide outstanding quality service and promote a sense of community.
  • Reduce the incidence of crime through the identification of crime trends and addressing the root causes.
  • Strengthen public confidence in the Gulf Shores Police Department by delivering high-quality police service through valued employees.

Special Units within the Patrol Division Include:

  • Beach Patrol
  • K9 Unit
  • Dive Team
  • Traffic Unit
  • Community Service Officers
