The City of Gulf Shores is taking the next major step toward replacing the West 4th Street bridge, which has been out of service for years.
We previously worked with Jade Consulting to design plans that would reopen the bridge to both vehicular and pedestrian traffic as part of a larger project. Those plans were submitted for several grant opportunities but were not selected.
In response to recent feedback from residents opposed to restoring vehicular access, staff requested a new proposal from Jade Consulting to develop construction documents for a pedestrianโonly bridge.
In this post, we've included photos of similar pedestrian bridges by this same company.
The proposal was submitted to the City Council at its March 16 Work Session meeting, and included:
