As you begin to make plans for the holidays, please take note of the following City of Gulf Shores closures:
Christmas Holiday Closures:
- Police, Fire, and other emergency services will remain open to ensure public safety and health.
- Administrative offices for the City of Gulf Shores will be closed on Friday, December 22, and Monday, December 25. Regular operations will resume on Tuesday, December 26.
- The Gulf Shores City Store will be closed on Monday, December 25. Regular operations will resume on Tuesday, December 26.
- The Thomas B. Norton Library will be closed from Friday, December 22, to Monday, December 25. Regular operations will resume on Tuesday, December 26.
- The Gulf Shores Museum will be closed from Friday, December 22, to Monday, December 25. Regular operations will resume on Tuesday, December 26.
- The Bodenhamer Recreation Center, George C. Meyer Tennis Center, and Cultural Center will be closed Sunday, December 24, and Monday, December 25. Regular operations will resume on Tuesday, December 26.
- The Pickleball courts and Tennis courts will remain open and available for play throughout the holidays.
- Republic Services Garbage and Recycling Services will run one day late. Please place bins out one day later than your usual pickup day.
- Yard Debris/Bulky Pick-up routes will move up one day; please have debris out one day ahead of your usual pickup day. Trucks will be running December 18-21.
- If you plan on recycling your Christmas trees for dune restoration efforts at the Gulf State Park, please place your clean trees, stripped of all decorations, in a separate pile beside debris.
New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day Holiday Closures:

- The Thomas B. Norton Library will be closed from Friday, December 29, to Monday, January 1. Regular operations will resume on Tuesday, January 2.
- The Gulf Shores Museum will be closed Friday, December 29, to Monday, January 1. Regular operations will resume on Tuesday, January 2.
