Here’s what’s been done:
At the entrance to Isla Wine/Foam Coffee
- West of the driveway: Gravel was removed from the right-of-way, topsoil was added, and landscaping was installed.
- East of the driveway: Three angled golf cart-only spaces were added, with topsoil and landscaping installed between the spaces and the driveway.
- New striping and parking bumpers were installed to keep parking organized and safe.
Why golf cart-only parking in this area?
The depth available for parking on this side is only 15 feet, while angled on-street parking for cars requires at least 20 feet. Vehicles would otherwise overhang into the sidewalk—blocking pedestrian access and creating ADA accessibility issues—or extend into the travel lane, which poses a safety hazard for both drivers and cyclists. Rather than remove parking altogether, these spaces were converted to golf cart parking. This approach maintains some parking for nearby businesses and keeps sidewalks accessible and the roadway safe for everyone.
Across from Galway
- The right-of-way was regraded and a rock base was installed.
- Eight angled parking spaces were added, along with new striping and parking bumpers.
Thank you for your patience as these improvements were completed. We hope these changes make visiting your favorite spots on East 22nd Avenue easier and more convenient!
