The City of Gulf Shores is proud to announce the release of Small Town, Big Beach, the first edition of a stunning pictorial history coffee table book that preserves, celebrates, and shares the community’s story with residents and visitors alike.

Spearheaded by the City of Gulf Shores and published and curated by PV Publications, Inc., this year-and-a-half-long project captures Gulf Shores’ journey from a small coastal town to a worldclass destination — while honoring the people whose dedication continues to define it.

Filled with historic photographs from private collections and archives, the book offers a rare glimpse into the past through first-hand accounts from residents and local leaders. Stunning scenic imagery captures the natural beauty of Alabama’s Gulf Coast, while engaging narratives highlight beloved landmarks, cherished traditions, and the community milestones that have shaped Gulf Shores into the vibrant coastal town it is today.

Perfect for long-time residents, new community members, and anyone who loves the Alabama Gulf Coast, this pictorial history book serves as both a treasured keepsake and an invaluable record for future generations.

“The City of Gulf Shores is proud to have played a role in bringing Small Town, Big Beach to life — a book that preserves our history, celebrates our people, and helps visitors understand the small-town charm that has always defined us,” said Brigette Reynolds, Programs & Events Manager. While our community has blossomed into a global destination, the core of Gulf Shores remains, its unwavering dedication and spirit shaping the very essence of our beloved home.”

To celebrate the release, a book launch event will be held on Saturday, August 23, at 4 p.m. at the Gulf Shores Museum. The public is invited to attend, meet contributors to the project, and enjoy light refreshments. A limited number of advanced copies will be available for purchase at the event, giving attendees the chance to be among the first to own this historic keepsake. Additional copies of the book will soon be available for purchase at the Gulf Shores City Store and online at www.gulfshoresgear.com
