As campaign season ramps up, here’s a quick reminder about placing political signs in the City of Gulf Shores:
- Political signs are only allowed on private property.
- Signs are not allowed in Rights of Way, which includes land along roads like Highway 59.
- The land along State Highway 180 (Fort Morgan Road) is owned by the Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, and no signs are permitted on that property.
- Rights of Ways are typically where utility boxes or poles are located.
If you're unsure of where your private property ends and Rights of Way begins, contact the Code Enforcement department for help at 251.968.2425.
These rules help keep our community safe, clear, and looking good for everyone. Signs in the wrong places can create hazards, block views for drivers, and clutter up public spaces. Thanks for helping us keep our community safe and looking great this election season!
