Modified W.C. Holmes Bridge on Highway 59 Lane Closures
In response to the current road conditions and in coordination with ALDOT's efforts, we are implementing modified lane closures on the bridge. To ensure the safety of all travelers while maintaining access, traffic will be reduced to one northbound lane and one southbound lane.
These changes are necessary to address the challenges posed by icy conditions and to allow us to keep the bridge open for essential travel. By working closely with ALDOT, we're making sure that the bridge remains accessible for as long as possible under these circumstances.
The Gulf Shores Police Department will continue to monitor road and bridge conditions and close them when conditions are considered unsafe. We strongly encourage everyone to stay at home and refrain from traveling unless essential. Please be aware that road and bridge closures may occur without prior notice.
The City will continue to monitor conditions and provide updates as needed. For emergencies, remember to always call 911.
