The Planning Commission is a nine member body consisting of the mayor, or his or her designee, one of the administrative officials of the municipality selected by the mayor, a member of the council and six persons who shall be appointed by the City Council. Each member of the commission shall be a resident of the city and each shall serve without compensation.


Duties

The Planning Commission hears and decides applications for site plans and subdivisions, adopts and makes changes to the City’s Land Use Plan and Comprehensive Plan, and makes recommendations to the City Council on applications for zoning changes, conditional use permits, and amendments to the city’s zoning ordinance. The Planning Commission provides technical and advisory assistance to the City Council regarding land use matters and assists in formulating land development policy.
