Gulf Shores Recreation is introducing a new Pickleball for Kids program designed to give children ages 6–12 a fun, confidence‑building entry into one of the fastest‑growing sports in the country. Hosted at the Outdoor Pickleball Courts at the GS Sportsplex, the program focuses on fundamentals—how to serve, rally, and keep score—while fostering teamwork, sportsmanship, and a love of movement in a supportive, small‑group setting.

Across three dates—April 11, May 9, and June 6—participants will attend 60‑minute sessions that blend instruction with guided play. Coaches introduce key skills with age‑appropriate drills, helping each child develop a steady serve, learn basic forehand and backhand strokes, and understand simple scoring and court positioning. The emphasis is on learning by doing: short, upbeat activities that keep kids engaged while building core skills step by step.

To ensure a high‑quality experience, each class is limited to a maximum of eight participants. The small size allows coaches to offer individualized feedback and create a positive environment where every child can progress at their own pace. No prior pickleball experience is required; kids just need comfortable athletic wear and a water bottle. If your child already has a paddle, they’re welcome to bring it, though it’s not a requirement.

At $20 per session, the program offers an accessible way for families to try pickleball without a long‑term commitment.
