It’s that time of year again to kick off our Active Adult Activities!
Here are our upcoming activities for October 2018:
Pickleball
October 1, 2, 4, 8, 9, 11, 15, 16, 18, 22, 23, 25, 29 and 30
Join us on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday from 8 a.m. - 12 p.m. at the Cultural Center Gym for Pickleball. This is a racquet sport that combines elements of badminton, tennis, and table tennis. There are member/non-member rates. Members of the Recreation center are free; however, non-members are required to purchase a $10 day pass.
BINGO
October 3, 10, 24 and 31
Come have fun and win prizes during BINGO every Wednesday at 10 a.m. at the Cultural Center. Complimentary coffee, water and snacks. No fee.
Coast Riders
October 6
Join us for a fun informative bike ride along the beautiful trails of the Gulf State Park. The ride will start at 9 a.m. There is no cost for this program. Registration can be made online, at the Recreation Center or at the Cultural Center. All participants who register and participate will get a free t-shirt.
Powder Puff: Home Improvement
October 6
This program is designed for women and teenage girls to learn the basics of home improvements in an unintimidating environment. Cost is $10 per class. Class will be held at the Cultural Center at 10 a.m. This class will focus on the following:
· Shelving and wall repair
· Hanging a towel bar
National Night Out
October 9
This is an annual event hosted by the City of Gulf Shores Police Department. This is an opportunity to show that our community stands together to make Gulf Shores a wonderful place to live and raise a family. This event will be held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Pelican Place. Guest Speaker— Halloween Bash
October 17
Starting at 11 a.m. Christie Shannon, Gulf Shores Museum Administrator, will be discussing the museum and their new exhibits. There will be complimentary coffee and snacks. Afterwards join us for our Halloween Social. We will have games, raffles and a costume contest! This weeks menu features “finger” foods. To sign-up call (251) 968-9818. Pre-register for $5/ person, $8 at the door. Space is limited.
Shrimp Fest
October 11, 12, 13 and 14
The Annual National Shrimp Festival has been named as a "must visit" event by FlipKey, a division of TripAdvisor, in its article, "20 Small Towns With the Most Unique Festivals in America. Wild and Wicked Beach Bash
October 19
The City of Gulf Shores is excited to announce the Wild and Wicked Beach Bash coming to Gulf Place Public Beach on Oct. 19. Locals and visitors are invited to wear their best Halloween costume and participate in this horrifyingly fun event featuring a Haunted Hustle 5K, Witches on Wheels, and live music from Doctor Zarr’s Amazing Funk Monster. "Who Haunts the Fort” Trip
October 20
Join us for a spooky good time at the fort at Fort Morgan. Cost is $17/ person. Cost includes guided tour of the fort with a twist and transportation. Reservations must be made in order to save your spot. Limited space available.
