On December 6, 2021, Mayor Craft and City Council proclaimed January 24-29, 2022, as Healthcare Workers Appreciation Days in the City of Gulf Shores.
This proclamation resulted from a project by Portia Hollis, 8th grade Red Ribbon Week Leader at Gulf Shores Middle School. She and her classmates were tasked with organizing a community service project based on the theme "Healthcare Heroes." This proclamation encourages residents and businesses to offer special acknowledgments to our extraordinary healthcare workers for their devotion to the health and well-being of our community.
The City of Gulf Shores would like to recognize and celebrate our healthcare workers by offering the following discounts and specials from January 24-29, 2022:
- 20% off at the Gulf Shore City Store.
- Half-Price $10 Daily Passes ($5) for the Bodenhamer Recreation Center and Studio Fitness.
- Free guest passes for healthcare workers who have a RecPass membership.
To take advantage of these specials, healthcare workers need to show proper identification at the Bodenhamer Recreation Center, Studio Fitness, or the Gulf Shores City Store.
We also want to remind everyone that Gulf Shores Middle School is hosting a blood drive on January 24 to kick off Healthcare Workers Appreciation Days. A decision to donate blood and give the gift of life is the perfect way to honor our healthcare workers and show appreciation for their perseverance and commitment. Those interested in donating blood can register on the American Red Cross website www.redcross.org.
