City Council Work Session and Special Meeting Agenda Overview - July 19, 2021

On Monday, July 19, in the City Hall Council Chambers, Gulf Shores City Council will hold a Council Work Session starting at 4 p.m. with a Special Council Meeting directly following at 4:30 p.m.

This meeting is open to public attendance. Questions and comments will be taken in person at the meeting. Meetings will also be streamed live via Facebook for viewing only.

  • Councilman Gary Sinak – During this time, a councilmember can bring forward any topic they would like to discuss with other councilmembers and the public.


  • Mark Acreman to propose the Mayor and Council approve an Intergovernmental Service Agreement between Baldwin County Commission and City to remit $200,000 to the Baldwin County Commission in exchange for the construction of a left-turn lane at the intersection of Stafford Boulevard and County Road 6 West (Aventura subdivision).


  • Cindy King, Director of Finance and Administration, seeks authorization from the Mayor and Council to update designated signatories on the Thomas B. Norton Library Advisory Board bank and investment accounts by removing former Treasurer Paula Tiepel and adding Morgen Szapiel, newly appointed Library Advisory Board Treasurer.


  • Lindsey Hart, Public Engagement Manager, to propose a recommendation of authorization for the Mayor to execute a professional services contract with ETC Institute in an amount not to exceed $17,500 to conduct a Resident Satisfaction Survey.


  • Grant Brown, Recreation and Cultural Affairs Director, to propose the Council considers authorizing the Mayor to execute contracts for the 2022 Small Town, Big Beach Production’s - Winter Entertainment Series performances at the Erie H. Meyer Civic Center in an amount not to exceed $90,000.
  • Grant Brown, Recreation and Cultural Affairs Director, to propose the Council approve the City’s Special Events Department’s Assembly Permit Application for the presentation of the 2021 Sunset Series in September.


  • Andy Bauer, Zoning Administrator, to present an annexation application to the Mayor and Council from Mr. & Mrs. Robert Sullivan to annex their property located in River Pines Subdivision located off of County Road 6 West.

SPECIAL MEETING - 4:30 p.m. 

Notice is hereby given that a Special Meeting of the City Council of the City of Gulf Shores, Alabama will be held at Gulf Shores City Hall in the Council Chambers at approximately  4:30 p.m. immediately following the July 19, 2021 regularly scheduled Council Work Session Meeting for the purpose of :

  1. Council consideration of adoption of a Resolution to reschedule the business license revocation hearing for Gulf Shores Landfill, LLC from July 19, 2021 at 4:30 p.m. until August 2, 2021 at 4:30 p.m.; and
  2. for the transaction of any and all other business that may come before the Council at that meeting.
