The City of Gulf Shores will host a Public Involvement Meeting for the BUILD Grant - Waterway Village Multi-Modal Access Project. Due to concerns associated with the COVID-19 pandemic, the meeting will be hosted in person and streamed online for viewing only. The purpose of the project is to improve connectivity and multi-modal access by adding capacity to State Route 59, provide a new bike and pedestrian bridge across the Gulf Intracoastal Waterway, and improve the traffic operations along County Road 6. A new pedestrian bridge across the Gulf Intracoastal Waterway would connect the north and south waterway village areas, adding pedestrian improvements, sidewalks, and lighting throughout the waterway village areas. The need for the project is due to the increased traffic congestion along State Route 59 and County Road 6.
