County Road 6 Intersection Improvements


The City of Gulf Shores' Public Works Department replaced the wired traffic signal at the intersection of County Road 6 and Highway 59 with a mast-arm signal.  For more information on this construction project, please click here.



Gulf Place Phase 1B


This phase of the Gulf Place Project will create public beach access areas on the east side of the public beach front with associated amenities. Amenities will include a new restroom building, a new police substation, shade structures, improved pedestrian accesses, a 20’ wide boardwalk, a new dune walkover, and attractive native landscaping. Beach Boulevard Improvements

The City of Gulf Shores and ALDOT worked together to implement improvements along Beach Boulevard that include pedestrian crossings, mast-arm signals, etc. For more information on this completed project, please click here

Sensory Garden


The Garden Club and Beautification Board, in collaboration with the City’s Public Works Department, recently constructed a Sensory Garden at the corner of West 2nd Street and West 19th Avenue. For more information on this project, please click here

Sportsplex High Jump Area

The City of Gulf Shores Sportsplex has established an impressive sports tourism reputation at regional and national levels and currently hosts the collegiate NAIA National Outdoor Track & Field Championship, the high school AHSSA and AISA State Outdoor Track & Field Championships and numerous other track and field events annually. In an effort to retain and attract these economically beneficial events, the construction of a new high jump was necessary. For more information about this project, please click here


Gulf Place Revitalization Project

The Gulf Shores public beach-front area at the terminus of Highway 59 and Beach Boulevard is one of the City’s most prominent locations and is the center of economic activity for the community. In an effort to activate, revitalize, and efficiently manage this important community resource the City developed a master plan for redevelopment of the beach-front area known as ‘Gulf Place’. Highway 182 (Beach Blvd) Roadway Improvements

Highway 182 Roadway underwent improvements beginning in May 2018, including added sidewalks, bike lanes, raised medians and mast arm traffic signals. For more information on this project, click here

Windmill Ridge Road Bridge Deck Replacement

The City of Gulf Shores removed and replaced the existing bridge deck at Windmill Ridge Road Bridge, which was completed in November of 2017. For more information on this project, please click here

Widening of the Bayou Village Bridge for Sidewalks

Beginning in November of 2017, the City of Gulf Shores widened the existing bridge deck and added 8" sidewalks and decorative handrails and lighting. For more information on this project, click here
