The City's GIS is the computer based mapping technologies used to provide information on the location of zoning districts, parks, roads, houses, businesses, and other facilities to the City's employees, visitors, and citizens.

The City's employees currently use GIS technology to:

real time information on
patrol car locations ...

... use GPS coordinates to display nearby hydrant locations and
building addresses on notebook PCs inside emergency vehicles for fire fighters and paramedics ...

... allow building inspectors have access to maps showing the locations of flood plains and sensitive environmental areas using wireless technologies while they are at construction sites performing inspections.

Residents and visitors can access online maps and Google and Bing web mapplets created by the City's GIS to:
...determine the City's
pickup day for yard debris
and trash or old furniture
and appliances...
... locate public beach accesses with the parking, restroom,
and lifeguard facilities that meet their needs ...
