City of Gulf Shores and Waterway Village merchants announce Inaugural Little Miss Zydeco Pageant

The City of Gulf Shores and Waterway Village merchants are excited to announce the Inaugural Little Miss Zydeco Pageant, sponsored by All Island Flowers, as a special addition to the Zydeco & Crawfish Festival this year. The Little Miss Zydeco Pageant will take place on April 12, 2019 at 6 p.m. at the Erie Meyer Civic Center.

Wheeles Karate, a Waterway Village merchant, has been responsible for the children’s activities at the Zydeco & Crawfish Festival since its inception. Kristie Wheeles is spearheading the Little Miss Zydeco Pageant in collaboration with all of the Waterway Village merchants and the City of Gulf Shores.

Participants will compete in four different grade levels: PreK and Kindergarten, First Grade and Second Grade, Third Grade and Fourth Grade, and Fifth Grade and Sixth Grade. Each grade level will award one queen, one first runner-up and three princesses. Queens will be announced at the Zydeco & Crawfish Festival on Saturday, April 20.

“This is an exciting addition to the Zydeco & Crawfish Festival as we move into our fifth year,” City of Gulf Shores Programs & Events Manager Brigette Reynolds said. “The Waterway Village District merchants are working diligently together to come up with new, fresh ideas for this year’s festival. The Little Miss Zydeco Pageant will expand the children’s activities and provide a new avenue of fun for our residents and visitors to enjoy leading up to the big event.”

All contestants must currently attend a public/private school within Baldwin County or be homeschooled in Baldwin County. Winners will be selected by judges based on a point system.
