The City of Gulf Shores is excited to announce the upcoming Meyer Park Improvement Project, which will improve and reconfigure the existing Meyer Park playground area located in the Waterway Village District at 400 East 22nd Avenue. The current playground area at Meyer Park will be closed for demolition and construction beginning on Monday, March 4.

The Meyer Park Improvement Project will include replacing the playground, pouring new sidewalks with benches and re-sodding open areas near the pavilion and restrooms. In addition, the park will feature new recycling containers as part of the City-wide recycling initiative.

“We feel this project will not only spruce up Meyer Park, but also enhance resident experience, greatly increase play area safety and stream-line area maintenance,” Recreation & Cultural Affairs Assistant Director Matt Young said.

The estimated completion date for the Meyer Park improvements is April 2019. The pavilion, horseshoe pits and open grass fields will remain open to the public during the construction period.
