Friendly reminder, dogs are not permitted on Gulf Shores beaches

The City of Gulf Shores would like to make all residents and visitors aware that dogs and other pets are NOT permitted on the beach within the corporate limits of the city.  


Beach Enforcement Officers regularly patrol the public beaches and will enforce all beach safety rules, including no pets allowed on the beach. The rules are posted at each public beach access point for your convenience.

For those looking for dog friendly options, there are two parks located in Gulf Shores designed especially for dog owners, the Dog Pond at Lake Shelby and the Dog Park. 

Dog Pond at Lake Shelby 

The Dog Pond at Lake Shelby is managed by Gulf State Park and is located at the Lake Shelby Picnic Area at Hwy. 135 and Hwy. 182. With access to the lake, this park features fencing, agility and play equipment, waste bag stations and seating. For more information as well as rules and regulations please click here

Gulf Shores Dog Park 

The City of Gulf Shores Dog Park features a large fenced in green space to accommodate both small and large dogs. Seating, waste bag stations and water for pets is provided. The Dog Park is located at 308 Clubhouse Drive. For more information as well as rules and regulations please click here
