Baldwin County Rip Current Advisory

Due to information received by the National Weather Service, the Baldwin County Emergency Management Agency (BCEMA) advises residents and visitors along the beaches of Baldwin County to be aware of strong rip currents.

National Weather Service reports indicate that a High Rip Current Risk is now in effect through Friday evening, July 5th. A High Surf Advisory is also in effect 1 AM Thursday through 7 PM Friday.

These same conditions existed three weeks ago on June 9 and 10 when four persons drowned in the Gulf of Mexico along Baldwin County beaches.

All residents and visitors to the Baldwin County Gulf Coast are encouraged to monitor conditions as the day progresses and be aware of red flag conditions. Beach conditions can be heard by dialing (251) 968-TIDE in Gulf Shores or (251) 981-SURF in Orange Beach and by monitoring NOAA Weather Radio.

BCEMA and local officials are monitoring water conditions and will update warnings as required.

For more information contact the Baldwin County EMA at (251) 972-6807.
