On January 10 representatives from Republic Services attended the Friends of the Library meeting to present the Friends with a check for $3,500.
The Friends of the Library submitted an application for a grant from Republic Rewards to enhance technology in the children’s area of the library in the form of new computers and iPads. Republic Rewards members were asked to vote for their favorite project and the Friends of the Library received the most votes.
The Friends of the Library began in 1972 with fifty charter members. The group meets throughout the year in order to help Gulf Shores’ Thomas B. Norton Public Library. The “Friends” purchase an amazing range of items and programs every year to enhance the library’s ability to help everyone find, obtain, use and enjoy endless information and materials.
