The Entertainment Series, now in its 30th year at the Erie H. Meyer Civic Center, will feature 12 shows from six different ranging from Grammy Award winners to orchestras and acoustic harmonies.
On January 23 and 24 the Atlantic City Boys will kick off the 30th edition of the Entertainment Series. Comprised of four dynamic singers, this group lends their world class vocals to the rock-n-roll harmonies made famous by groups like The Drifters, The Four Seasons, The Beach Boys and so many more. Enjoy hits of the 50’s, 60’s rock-n-roll era with songs like “I’m a believer,” “Let’s Hang On,” and “My Eyes Adored You.” Each of these shows begins at 7 p.m. and tickets are $35.
January 30 and 31 presents legends The New Christy Minstrels. Their influence on pop and folk music is undeniable, with chart-topping hits such as “Green, Green,” “This Land Is Your Land,” “Denver,” and the Oscar-winning song “Chim Chim Cher-ee.” Hailed for its rich and robust vocal blend, the ensemble garnered a “Best Performance by a Chorus” Grammy for its album “Presenting The New Christy Minstrels.” Each of these shows begins at 7 p.m. and tickets are $35.
On February 6 and 7 The Kingston Trio will take the stage singing simple yet memorable melodies with their iconic three-part harmony. Emerging from San Francisco’s North Beach scene in 1957, The Kington Trio brought the rich tradition of American folk music to the mainstream. Influencing musical tastes of a generation, they enjoyed unprecedented record sales and worldwide fame in the 50s and 60s. Today the trio is comprised of Bill Zorn, George Grove and Rick Dougherty. Using only acoustic guitars and banjos they’ve remained true to their trademark sound. Each of these shows begins at 7 p.m. and tickets are $35.
February 13 and 14 welcomes the song and dance of The Young Irelanders. Comprised of eight young performers, this sensational show features traditional Irish song and dance. This talented group has performed for U.S. Presidents, the Queen of England, and Price Albert of Monaco. They have also toured as lead performers with Riverdance, shared the stage with Bono, and have recorded with Ronnie Wood. Each of the shows begins at 7 p.m. and tickets are $35.
February 20 and 21 offers the musical direction of Misha Rachlevsky with the Russian String Orchestra. Celebrating its 25th anniversary the Russian String Orchestra, previously Chamber Orchestra Kremlin, is comprised of some of Russia's finest young string. About half of nearly 2,000 concerts the orchestra has performed to date have taken place in Moscow, the rest were played on tours in 24 countries in Europe, North and South America and the Far East. The orchestra's discography of over 30 CDs has received widespread international acclaim, such as the Diapason d'Or award in France, Critics Choice in London's Gramophone, Critics Choice in The New York Times, and Record of the Year award in Hong Kong. Each of these shows begins at 7 p.m. and tickets are $35.
On March 6 and 7 celebrate the music of George and Ira Gershwin like you’ve never heard before with Gershwin with a Twist. Staring pianist and vocalist extraordinaire Brian Gurl and vocalist Michele Pruyn, this six piece productions features contemporary treatments of their music ranging from reggae to doo wop and rhythm and blues to rap. Contrasted against these unique arrangements are poignant, artful and traditional renditions of many of their most beloved compositions - making for an unforgettable experience! Each of these shows begins at 7 p.m. and tickets are $35.
