Exiting Traffic Plan for Fourth of July Fireworks

The City of Gulf Shores would like to make all residents and visitors aware of the exiting traffic plan that will be activated immediately following the Fourth of July fireworks show. The following traffic plan is being implemented to help direct the flow of exiting traffic more efficiently by routing traffic onto major roadways where traffic signals are coordinated to give priority over secondary streets.

  • All vehicles parked in the gravel public parking lot across from the main public beach area will be required to exit onto West 1st Avenue by utilizing a LEFT turn. No traffic will be allowed to exit directly onto East Beach Boulevard from this lot and all RIGHT turns from this lot onto West 1st Avenue will be prohibited.
  • No traffic will be allowed to exit onto Highway 59 from West 1st Avenue.
  • Access onto Highway 59 from East 1st Avenue will be limited to RIGHT turn only.
  • Pedestrian pathways will be provided in congested areas along Beach Boulevard. Pedestrians should only cross roadways at appropriate pedestrian crossings.

These temporary traffic flow modifications are expected to remain in place for approximately one hour following the conclusion of the fireworks show. For more information, contact City Hall at 251-968-1120.
