The City of Gulf Shores will host a Coastal Community Camp Day on Saturday, April 23 from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Cultural Center. “Our goal is to provide members of our community with an opportunity to learn about all of the wonderful youth camps our area has to offer,” said Brigette Reynolds, Programs and Events Manager. “The great thing about this event is that it's a free, one-stop-shop for summer camp fun.” According to Reynolds, at least a dozen camps from around the area will be in attendance including the City’s Strengthening Potential through Arts, Recreation and Culture (SPARC) Summer Camps which is based out of the Gulf Shores Cultural Center. SPARC Summer Camps are open to children who have completed kindergarten and are at least 5 years old through age 11. Online registration is April 9 – April 23. The following SPARC camps will be offered over the course of six summer sessions: SPARC Earth - Strengthening connections with nature by promoting responsibility, respect and care of our planet. SPARC Works - Strengthening interest and leadership in the fields of science, engineering and technology through exciting and practical applications. SPARC Talent - Strengthening aptitudes and skills through media, communications and the arts. SPARC Sports - Strengthening awareness of various sports, physical activities, and overall health and nutrition. SPARC Explorers - Strengthening leadership and achievement through diverse opportunities to succeed in outdoor settings.
