Significant weather threat for Gulf Shores &surrounding areas 4 p.m. - 12 a.m. Wed

Severe weather risks include:

  • Possible long track tornadoes and damaging winds gusting in excess of 70 miles per hour

  • Quarter to golf ball size hail

  • Gusty winds (30- 40 mph) outside of thunderstorms

  • High surf along the coast (5-8 ft surf heights through Wednesday)


In preparation for this significant weather threat, the City of Gulf Shores has begun taking precautionary measures to ensure public safety. All city facilities will be closing today at 4 p.m. and all scheduled programs, events and activities have been cancelled. Individuals residing in RVs, campers and mobile homes should seek shelter from the forecasted high winds and potential tornadic activity. For a list of local hotels click here. City officials advise citizens to monitor the storm and take appropriate actions to protect life and property.
