On March 29, the Whyte Caps takes the stage to kick off Music at Meyer Park. The Whyte Caps began in Gulf Shores, Alabama with a dream of a high school student to form a band of the best young musicians the area had to offer. The band originally formed in 2011 and over time evolved into a power trio with Chris Beverly on lead vocals/lead guitar, Kyle Thornton on the Drums, and Ryan Hensley on bass/vocals. These three powerhouse musicians have created a rock/progressive rock music that has put them on over 188 venue stages and five festival stages in the past year.
Jamell Richardson “The Gulf Coast Blues Boy" will take over Music at Meyer Park on April 5. In 2014, he released is debut EP “Gulf Coast Blues Boy.” Music lovers may recognize Richardson from the 2015 Hangout Music Festival. He was selected as the winner of the “Reach the Beach” contest. Known for Jimi Hendrix style guitar tricks, “B.B. King-like” facial expressions and incredible stage presence this fiery yet classic style is sure to wow the crowd!
Matt Jones will close out the 2018 edition of Music at Meyer Park on April 19. Destin, FL native Jones is a seasoned singer/songwriter based in Tuscaloosa, AL, with an arsenal of original and cover music. Matt started playing guitar at the age of twelve. Heavily influenced by the great singer-songwriters, such as David Wilcox, he honed his skill as a writer and performer to go on to record 4 albums including his latest, Redemption.
All Music at Meyer Park concerts are free to the public and begin at 6 p.m.
