Neighborhood Watch

What is Neighborhood Watch?

Neighborhood Watch is a crime prevention program that enlists the active participation of the residents of Gulf Shores, in cooperation with the Gulf Shores Police Department. Its purpose is to teach the citizens of Gulf Shores simple crime prevention techniques and provide information concerning crime in their neighborhoods.

What Does It Involve?

  • Familiarizing yourself with the activities of your neighborhood, such as which residents work during the day, and which residents and automobiles belong in a particular area
  • Helping neighbors by keeping a watchful eye on each others property
  • Implementing crime prevention techniques, such as home security and Operation ID
  • Training to recognize and report suspicious activity in the neighborhood

As a participant in the Neighborhood Watch Program, you will become better acquainted with your neighbors. Gulf Shores Police believe the Neighborhood Watch Program is a powerful means to combat all types of criminal offenses in a residential area.

Stopping crime is everyone's business. If you want to reduce the odds of becoming a victim in your own home or neighborhood, talk to your neighbors about joining the Gulf Shores Police Department Neighborhood Watch Program.
