This phase of the Gulf Place Project will create public beach access areas on the east side of the public beach front with associated amenities. Amenities will include a new restroom building, a new police substation, shade structures, improved pedestrian accesses, a 20’ wide boardwalk, a new dune walkover, and attractive native landscaping.
This phase of the project required a permit and Habitat Conservation Plan from USFWS. The property will be maintained in accordance with that permit, including the protection of dunes and native landscaping. Following the trapping period, the Public Works Department will begin performing preliminary site prep, demo, and grading work at the location, and construction is expected to start October 29, 2018. This final phase of construction for the Gulf Place Project is expected to be complete April 30, 2019.
